Tile Guide

Made to stand the test of time, tile has been gracing homes and public places for many centuries, and its appeal remains strong today. With its impressive staying power and a universe of options, tile is always a smart flooring choice. It also works great as a backsplash, around the poolside, or as a durable wall cover.

At Boss Carpet One Floor & Home you’ll find an extensive inventory of both indoor and outdoor tile.  Are you considering a tile floor or wall for your business or residence? There are many benefits to using this timeless, enduring medium, but before you begin your journey, here are a few facts to consider.

Expert Advice - Choose the Perfect Tile

Join our very own Jim Aaron, VP of Merchandising for Carpet One Floor & Home, for some information on the three basic types of tile flooring: ceramic, porcelain, and stone.

Types of Tile

Selecting a tile for your upcoming project can get overwhelming at times, since there are so many products to choose from. It’s important to understand the fundamental differences between tile materials, since some are better suited for various situations.

While the world of tile is constantly evolving, here are the three types of tile you’ll encounter most frequently:

  • Ceramic Tile:  Fashioned from organic clays, porcelain tile is then fired in the kiln, resulting in a tile that is especially sturdy. Ceramic works well both indoors and outdoors.

  • Porcelain Tile: A type of ceramic tile, porcelain is kiln-fired at a higher heat for a tile that’s denser. With its natural water-resistance and ability to prevent slips and falls, porcelain works well as bathroom flooring.

  • Stone Tile: Made by Mother Nature, stone tile is well-suited for your outdoor entertaining areas, but it’s also great indoors. Crafted out of granite, marble, slate, and other organic substances, stone tile is a favorite for hearths and entryways.
